Nathan W. Busby died at his home in Windom at 11 o’clock Saturday night, May 15, after a seven month illness. He was born in Greencastle, Indiana on the 14th day of October, 1841.  He enlisted in the Civil War at Bloomfield, Iowa in 1861with the 3rd Iowa Cavalry and served until the close of the war.  He was married to Mary E. French at Bloomfield, Iowa on Sept 14, 1865. To this union 7 children were born, all of whom are living except one son, who died in infancy. The children living are Mrs. Ada VanNordstrand of McPherson; Mrs. Ida Rutledge of Rice county; Mrs. Lou Broughton of Springfield, Ill; Nathan Busby Jr of Kansas City; Mrs. Maude McChesney and Chas. Busby both of Windom.  All the children were with him during his illness and all were with him when he died except Mrs. Broughton who had returned home on account of sickness in her own family.  He was 65 years old and came to Kansas in 1875.  He homesteaded near Windon and has made this county his home since that time.  The funeral services were held at 10 o’clock Monday morning at Windom, conducted by Rev. Berkeley of the Christian Church of this city. The interment was made in the McPherson Cemetery.
